Fey magic - Guardian Spirit

Achramani fey races are as diverse as it gets when it comes to physical appearance and genetics, but they all share a common ancestry, and an innate magical affinity. Their magical strength depends on their connection with the spiritual plane of existence. Elves with a strong connection to the material plane have a shorter lifespan, less affinity with magic in exchange for physical power and fertility. Pixies, sprites and other fey with a strong connection with the spiritual planes of existence are usually immortal, they can stay conscious without their physical body and they have a strong magical powers, but they have weak material body and some are unable to reproduce in natural ways.
Elves are mortal, so they are very fond of their material life. They know they can't return to the physical realm after their body dies, so they invented a great number of magical skills to increase their chances of survival. One of the strongest such magic is the Guardian Spirit. It's an ancient sylvan magic where the living seeks commune with the dead. In a ritual, the caster tries to remind the spirit of a deceased relative of their former life. They achieve this by first summoning the spirit of the dead, by sacrificing an animal near the resting place of the deceased. Than they present the summoned spirit with it's former belongings, usually their weapons of family heirlooms, reminding them who they where. If the ritual is successful, the spirit will awaken it's memory and ghost form to communicate with the living. Then the living politely requests protection from the spirit of the deceased. If the dead is convinced and accepts the request, the spirit will stay with the summoner until the connection is severed by natural or magical means.
The Guardian Spirit has a strong connection with the spiritual plane as it exists on that realm, allowing it to tap into the natural flows of magic. They usually don't have offensive spells, but they can cast healing magic or use protection magic. Sylvan elves live in the forests, as such they are not just predators but prey to many large, carnivorous creatures. Many creatures of Achrama prefer to swallow their prey whole and alive, so a strong protection magic that lasts long comes very handy in such deadly situation, greatly increasing their survival chance.
In this particular case, our elven prey fell into the trap of a sylvan giant. Her Guardian Spirit is particularly strong, as he was a shaman in his life. She spent a whole day inside the stomach and fell asleep from exhaustion. The spirit makes sure she sleeps well until the giant's body decides to let her loose to prevent harm from indigestion.
